Job Description
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.
Kapi'olani's Audiology department is composed of a multidisciplinary team of expertly trained professionals dedicated to providing audiology services and consultation for inpatients and outpatients at our central location and contract sites. The department includes the Cochlear Implant Team, which was formed in 2005 to provide critical services so that children can enter the world of sound without having to leave Hawai'i for specialized treatment. In addition to an ear, nose and throat specialist, the team includes an audiologist, a speech/language pathologist, a clinical psychologist, a social worker, a physical and occupational therapist and, depending on the patient's age, a school liaison.
As the Lead Audiologist, you will have the opportunity to provide life-changing rehabilitative and therapeutic services to patients of Hawai'i Pacific Health hospitals and clinics suffering from speech and hearing challenges by overseeing all audiology services and serving as a technical resource on all aspects of audiology practice. We are looking for someone with outstanding communication and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.
