We are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a Geologist role on our Carbon Implementation Team located in Bakersfield California. This position reports directly to our Carbon Implementation Manager. As a Geologist, you will support Aeras Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) strategies to enable long-term oil production. You will be a part of an impactful cross-discipline team leveraging innovation, critical thinking and leadership to develop and implement CCUS strategies.

**Position Key Deliverables:**

Provide geological insight and guidance, reservoir characterization, and associated deliverables such as applications to regulatory agencies to successfully implement Aeras first-ever CCUS project.

**Position Roles & Responsibilities:**

* Collaborate with CCUS team members and determine work plans for supporting the entire life cycle of the project:

+ Permitting and Site Certification needs and associated geology deliverables for state and federal submissions (e.g., various reservoir characterization products such as maps and cross sections, lithology data, etc.)

+ Data gathering needs for pore volume additions

+ Refined storage volumetrics

+ Reservoir and CO2 Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) plans to demonstrate permanence of injectant

* Create or update 3D structure and property models for the storage complex, including both reservoir and seal intervals

+ Faulted structure

+ Porosity, permeability, facies

* Upscale 3D model for simulation and collaborate with simulation engineer for model revisions based on regulatory and simulation needs

* Reservoir characterization for purpose of CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery scoping and feasibility studies

* Work as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in close collaboration with Reservoir Engineer, Geophysicist, Petrophysicist, Simulation Engineer, Production Engineer, EHS, Government and Regulatory Affairs, Land, Legal, Geotech and others

* Inform and advise recommendations for regulatory revisions to improve CCUS pathways

* Interact with key stakeholders for project advocacy and messaging (Public Affairs, Regulatory and Government Affairs, regulators, partners, researchers, public, etc.)

**Required Skills**

* 3D modeling expertise, including demonstrated experience constructing highly complex structural and property models

* Demonstrated ability to manage complex reservoir characterization projects to meet aggressive deadlines and business needs

* Demonstrated ability to coordinate and delegate project responsibilities for technical staff in support of complex, integrated project work (e.g., technicians, engineers)

* Demonstrated ability to contend with ambiguity and deliver results in the face of unknows and uncertainty; CCUS is a frontier area and the team will be navigating permitting and site certification processes that have many unknowns

* Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with diverse teammates, partners, and other various internal and external stakeholders strong competencies, as well as written, presentation, and conversational skills are a must

* Team player able to work both independently and inter-dependently as a member of an integrated team

**Required Experience**

* MS or PhD degree in Geology

* Minimum 7 years of experience in Petroleum Geology
