Job Description

About The Role:

Our client, a globally recognized multi-disciplinary design consultancy who specialize in wayfinding, planning and spatial experience, is looking for a dynamic and versatile Senior Information Designer to join their close-knit team in their San Francisco office.

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in delivering successful environmental graphic design and wayfinding projects, working closely with designers and planners across North America. Based in the vibrant and fast-growing San Francisco Bay Area studio, you’ll initially focus on a major infrastructure project, with opportunities to contribute to high-profile international work across a range of sectors. Our client encourages applicants from diverse design backgrounds, including brand and identity design, but a strong interest in the technical side of wayfinding is essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly growing company with an exciting pipeline of projects on the horizon. Offering hybrid work arrangements, comprehensive healthcare, a 401(k) plan, and a host of other exceptional benefits, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects across stages, managing scope and deliverables independently
  • Develop wayfinding and environmental graphics concepts, including sign elevations, message schedules, and construction packages
  • Prepare, issue, and present design documentation to clients
  • Support wayfinding planning, coordinating with signage vendors and reviewing shop drawings
  • Conduct site assessments and engage with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Delegate tasks to team members and lead design workshops
  • Collaborate with project managers to oversee scope, costs, and schedule adjustments
  • Present project updates to clients and stakeholders
  • Travel as needed for project needs

Key Skills/Requirements:

  • Previous experience in experiential / environmental / urban / exhibition graphic design or a similar field
  • Strong portfolio displaying your graphic, typographic, and design skills on projects
  • Skilled in articulating design choices and collaborating on concepts
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (for map/diagram design)
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience in wayfinding signage design and drafting specs
  • Familiar with non-visual communication elements
  • Knowledge of GIS, 3D CAD, and UX/UI tools
  • Understanding of ADA, MUTCD and signage regulations
  • Experience working with fabricators
