STATE PARK INTERPRETER I – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION / COLUMBIA STATE HISTORIC PARK
The reporting location for this position is Columbia State Historic Park in Columbia, CA. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Interpreter III.
Based at Columbia State Historic Park in Columbia, California, this State Park Interpreter I position performs front line interpretive work at one of California's best preserved Gold Rush towns. Duties include public interpretation of Gold Rush topics, park planning and organization, historic research and development of interpretive projects for California State Parks. The position is responsible for working closely with all staff and volunteers in the park to accomplish tasks necessary to operate, protect, interpret and maintain the park unit to the highest quality standards. The State Park Interpreter I will serve as a volunteer coordinator for over 100 volunteers and may serve as a lead for seasonal aides and interns. This position will work alongside state park rangers, maintenance and local partners to coordinate interpretive operations within the park’s historic Gold Rush era buildings. The State Park Interpreter I will work under the direction of the State Park Interpreter III of the Central Valley District.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Work will be performed in both an indoor office environment at a computer workstation and also outside in various weather conditions. Weekend and holiday work required. Includes closing heavy iron door shutters, barn doors, and climbing stairs.
